SCORM or Sharable Content Object Reference Model is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based e-learning that was developed by the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative out of the Office of the United States Secretary of Defense.

SCORM enables distance learning developers to set the order by which a student can view and study online modules; enables students to bookmark the last item studied and ensures the student achieves an acceptable score before proceeding to the next module.
